Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, MacOS, IOS Email Client Setup

Your Incognify email account can be accessed by webmail at https://incognify.me:2096/ or configured to work using your favorite email client. We recommend Webmail, as you will have access to send and receive email from anywhere there is an Internet connection. If you would like instead to configure Incognify to work with your email client, follow the steps below:

  • 1 - Find your email client in the list provided and click the link for setup instructions. The list includes most common email clients. If you don't see your client listed, configure your client using the Manual Settings.
  • 2 - When given the choice, make sure to choose an encrypted connection using either SSL or TLS.
  • 3 - Most email clients will configure the necessary settings for you automatically. If yours does not, refer to the information provided under Manual Settings at the bottom of the page.
  • 4 - Remember that your Incognify email account is intended for secondary occasional use and not for use as your primary email account. Send limits are in place. For more information see Terms.

Email Filter Rules

  • 1 - Click your email address. It's next to the LOGOUT icon in the top right.
  • 2 - Click "Email Filters".

Email filters allow you to setup automatic actions based upon incoming email that meets a certain criteria. For example, you can automatically forward all email from 'Mom' to your personal email account elsewhere, and you can automatically move all incoming emails that contain the word 'receipt' into a 'Paid' folder. There are predefined filters too that will automatically move all messages marked by SpamAssassin as SPAM into a SPAM or Trash folder. Many more options are available as well.

To create a new filter do the following:

  • 1 - Enter a name for your filter. We'll enter 'Mom Filter' for our example.
  • 2 - Choose the rule that this filter applies to. In our example we will choose 'From'.
  • 3 - Choose the criteria that must be met in order for this rule to be executed. We'll choose 'Contains'.
  • 4 - Choose the Action to take place when all matching filter criteria is met. We'll choose 'Redirect to Email', and enter an email address where we would like these messages sent. In our example we'll use my-other-email@example.com .
  • 5 - Click 'Create' to create the rule.
  • 6 - Click the + button to create any additional rules you need.

Based upon the example filter we created above, everytime an email arrives with the word 'Mom' anywhere in the From field, that email will be automatically forwarded to my-other-email@example.com .

Tip - Any email forwarded, either automatically by an email rule or manually by yourself from within your Incognify account will create a traceable link from the receiving email address back to your Incognify account. This link could reveal your identity. Therefore forwarding email from within Incognify is not recommended as it breaks the privacy and anonymity that you get with the Incognify service. Email forwarders are offered for those people who need the option and are not concerned with the anonymity of their email account.

Email Forwarder Rules

  • 1 - Click your email address. It's next to the LOGOUT icon in the top right.
  • 2 - Click "Forwarders".

Email forwarders are useful when you would like all email sent to your Incognify account to be forwarded to an external email account. For example, you might want your Incognify email sent to your Yahoo account. An email forward can do this for you.

To setup email forwarding do the following:

  • 1 - Click the 'Add Forwarder' button.
  • 2 - Add a Destination email address for all of your email to be forwarded to.
  • 3 - Click the 'Add Forwarder' button.
  • 4 - All incoming email will now be forwarded to the address you specified.

Tip - Any email forwarded, either automatically by an email forwarder or manually by yourself from within your Incognify account will create a traceable link from the receiving email address back to your Incognify account. This link could reveal your identity. Therefore using email forwarders are not recommended as it breaks the privacy and anonymity that you get with the Incognify service. Email forwarders are offered for those people who need the option and are not concerned with the anonymity of their email account.

Autoresponders

  • 1 - Click your email address. It's next to the LOGOUT icon in the top right.
  • 2 - Click "Autoresponders".

Autoresponders allow you to predefine a response to an incoming email that will automatically be sent to the sender of the email when their email is received. The Autoresponder feature is highly configurable and messages can be in plain text or HTML. Delay times and custom scheduling is also available.

To setup an Autoresponder do the following:

  • 1 - Click the 'Add Autoresponder' button.
  • 2 - Choose a Character Set (if you don't know what this is choose utf-8).
  • 3 - You can optionally enter a Wait Interval which pauses the sending of repeat replies when messages come in from the same sender within the time period you specify.
  • 4 - Enter your message body. A list of predefined tags is provided to automate some of the information you can place in your reply.

Tip - Unlike forwarded email, properly configured Autoresponders do not break the anonymity of your Incognify service. Just be careful not to include any identifying information or any links to any external email account.

Contact Information

  • 1 - Click your email address. It's next to the LOGOUT icon in the top right.
  • 2 - Click "Contact Information".

If you are concerned you may forget your login password, here you can enter one or two email addresses to which a password reset email can be sent. If you use Pushbullet you can also enter your Pushbullet Access Token here.

To setup your Contact Information do the following:

  • 1 - (optional) Add an email address to which you would like a password reset email be sent in case you forget your login password.
  • 2 - (optional) Enter a second email address in case you cannot access the first email address.
  • 3 - (optional) Enter a Pushbullet Access Token.
  • 4 - Check the Contact Preferences of your choice. If you check the box to notify you when 'Someone logs in to my account' and you have entered a Password Reset email address, then everytime somebody logs in to your account your will receive a notification at this email address. This is useful to make sure no one has obtained your login information and is checking your email without your permission.

Tip - Being able to recover your password should you forget it is very handy. However that handiness comes with a price. Any email sent from your Incognify account to another email address that is connected to you, regardless if the email was sent automatically or manually by yourself, creates a traceable link from the receiving email address back to your Incognify account. This link could reveal your identity. You should think carefully about whether you want to enable this feature since actually using it will break the privacy and anonymity that you get with the Incognify service. The password reset feature therefore is recommended to those people who need the service option and are not concerned with the anonymity of their email account.
